Center Theatre Group is LA’s equivalent of Broadway, operating three large theater houses and producing classics as well as developing and showcasing new work. They hold monthly EPA’s (Equity Principal Auditions) the first or second Monday of each month. Sometimes they will also post casting notices on Actors Access for non-union actors.
Ahmanson Theatre
This 2000-seat theatre produces a wide variety of shows from musicals to dramas to classic revivals during it’s year-round season. It’s known for presenting Broadway hits for exclusive LA engagements, such as Doubt, Jersey Boys and most recently, August: Osage County.
Mark Taper Forum
Though a 750-seat theater, the Mark Taper is surprisingly intimate with seating on all three sides of it’s thrust stage. Though it’s focus is on developing new work, well-known productions like Speed the Plow and The Cherry Orchard show up in it’s 5-6 play season.
Kirk Douglas Theatre
CTG’s most intimate theater, at just 300 seats, is also it’s newest, having opened in 2004. The Kirk Douglas often co-produces with local theater companies, presenting world premiers of new plays and musicals.
